Netta Architects partnered with the Newark Housing Authority and The Michaels Organization on Boulevard West, an affordable mixed-use residential community originally known as New Horizons. Completed in May 2019, the four-story building provides 89 rental apartments, an on-site leasing office, and 5,000 square feet of retail and commercial space.
The design includes shared resident amenities on each floor, off-street parking, and accessible entrances. Apartments were designed to Energy Star criteria. Along Irvine Turner Boulevard, building setbacks create room for planting, benches, decorative paving, and lighting, connecting the ground-floor retail to the surrounding Belmont neighborhood.
