A Community Landmark Renewed for Year-Round Recreation
Warinanco Sports Center builds on a skating tradition that has brought Union County residents together since 1961. Netta Architects worked with the County to renew this longstanding community asset and expand its role as a destination for recreation, gathering and events throughout the year.
Completed in 2017, the project combined a major rink renovation with a new 11,000-square-foot field house. The field house brings skate rentals, food service, party rooms and recreation spaces together alongside a large multipurpose room.
Designed for Recreation and Community Life
The rink improvements included a new floor and refrigeration piping, upgraded boards and glass, and remodeled team locker rooms. Seasonal turf over the rink floor extends the facility’s use beyond skating season.
Beyond the rink, a light-filled great room and café provide space for families and visitors to gather. A stone-clad fireplace anchors the lounge, while a protected exterior seating area accommodates visitors and spectators. Together, these spaces give Union County a more versatile public facility for organized sports and everyday community use.
